Erika
Eckert is a Seattle based painter and fabric designer. After completing
her Bachelor of Arts degree at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma
Washington, she continued her studies at Lorenzo di
Medici in Florence, Italy. There she worked extensively with textiles.
She
also studied in Copenhagen, Denmark with Textile Gruppen Freja. After
living and working in Copenhagen for four years, Erika returned to Seattle
to attend classes in the Fiber Arts Department at the University of
Washington.
The
energy Erika receives from nature, traveling, the urban environment,
in which she, her husband and young son live allows her imagery to continually
evolve.
Her
passion for radiant colors and finding beauty in simplicity inspired
her to start Hyggelig (Hoo-ga-lee)Fabrics, four years ago.
Recently,
Erika has fused her knowledge of painting with her expertise in working
with velvets and silk to create suspended wall hangings and
paintings. Her work has been well received through a series of shows in the Seattle Area over the last couple years. |
